Indev Island

A site dedicated to talking about my Indev island

Will make it more interesting later

Main page

I started working on this island on January 3, 2026. It is a normal sized square island world with normal theme. It was generated in version Indev 0.31 20100128-2304 as it was the last Indev version with all of the debug chests, but I played on version Indev 20100223 as that is the last Indev version. I chose to do it this was, so I would have access to building materials that are normally not obtainable and play on the version with the most features. I also chose not to play through the different versions as I wasn't interested. I wanted to have only a single Indev world, so I wouldn't want to start in it a version that's too old as i wouldn't have access to diamonds. My goal for is to turn this island into a base that I will use in Infdev and Alpha as a base. I don't know if I'll keep using it as a base in beta as well, because I'll likely move out before then.
This world wasn't chosen at random, instead I generated whole bunch of islands, while saving only those that I liked. My criteria for this were that it was a hill and wasn't too messy (having a lava lake was a bonus, but not a requirement). Once I found several worlds I liked, I sorted through them and picked the one I thought was the best.
The builds that I have already finished include a statue, a big storage system, a height limit tower (for storing unobtainable items), a beach area, two bridge and I've expanded the lava lake that was on the island by using a lava source block.
My current plans for this island are to build a dock with ship(s), a rail station, a house with a bedroom (for when beds get added), a nether portal (for fast travel once it's possible), a lighthouse, a furnace room and a big wheat farm. Aside from those I also want to construct some buildings for future farms, those being a cactus farm and a sugar cane, along with a building to store the items they produce. And lastly I want to build a sapling room to store some samplings. The reason why I'm building it is due to the changes that were done to saplings in b1.5. That's because before b1.5 the sapling metadata used to control the growth state of saplings, but in b1.5 it determines the sapling type. This means that the saplings in that room should turn into different ones, including acacia and dark oak saplings in r1.7.2 (at least according to my testing).
Once I'm done with this world (and the Classic one) I plan to import it into an Infdev 20100227-1433 world which I will get using a saving mod, so that I have access to a brick pyramid. My plan is to use a world which has a large lake/ocean at spawn, because it would look out of place if I placed it inland. To be safe I'll of course need to do a bunch of testing to make sure the worlds get imported properly.
