I have had this world for a very long time and played it in all major version and also most smaller versions and development versions. Thanks to this I have collected various noteworthy things, which are important either to me, or because they have become unobtainable. As such I decided to create a room where I would put them. This website lists all of the things that are in this room. For each of them I wrote a text that says what it is in-game, give it a name to describe what makes it special, specifies what version you need to use and how you obtain it, along with a note that adds further details. This is of course not a complete collection of unobtainable items that you could get by playing the mod through all the versions, but it's complete enough for me.
Click the chests in the image to check out what's inside them or check out the miscellaneous things.
Item: Items that used to be wooden tools
Version: Infdev+ 0.5
Means of obtaining: Craft wooden tools in versions prior to 0.5.
Note:
Wooden tools were removed in Infdev+ version 0.5 as they were deemed useless due to the fact that that stone tools are too easy to obtain. This meant that that the individual wooden tools were replaced by different items as those items took up their IDs. Here's a list showing which tool turned into what:
Sword → Heart shard
Pickaxe → Suspicious stew
Axe → Spyglass
Shovel → Quiver
Hoe → Rock
Items: Reeds with weird metadata
Version: Infdev+ 0.2
Means of obtaining: Use pick-block on reeds
Note:
Reeds blocks have different metadata valuses that determine their growth and back then when you used pick-block on them you would get an item with that metadata. I believe it was fixed in 0.3, but I can't remember.
Item: Enchanted music record
Version: Infdev+ 1.0e-pre1
Means of obtaining: Enchant a record before it gets fixed in one of the re-uploads.
Note:
Don't remember the exact version, but it should be accurate.
Item: Devil's claw with negative durability
Version: Infdev+ 1.0-pre2
Means of obtaining: Use it more than 256 times before the durability changes.
Note:
The durability of the claw used to be 512 but then it was nerfed to 256. Can't remember why.
Item: Musket with negative durability
Version: Infdev+ 1.0-RC1
Means of obtaining: Use a musket more than 256 times before the durability changes.
Note:
The durability of the musket used to be 512 but then it was nerfed to 256. Can't remember why.
Item: Damaged copper horn
Version: Infdev+ 1.0-RC2
Means of obtaining: Get a Shield of Lucifer before that version.
Note:
The Shield of Lucifer was an item that you would obtain in the crimson dimensions. Its ability was arrow deflect. After its removel the ability was give to the Ancient shield and its ID got take by the Copper Horn. Later on we got the Arcane shield instead, which was later re-named to Damascus shield. The Damascus shield had the ability of Teleportation, which meant that getting hurt would randomly teleport you. This was however annoying so now the the shield has the ability to block all damage when crouching (except fall, fire and lava damage).
Item: Bow with two protection 4 enchantments
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Means of obtaining: Enchant a bow twice with power
Note:
I can't remember which nightly build have I used, but in one if them you could enchant your gear multiple times with the same enchantment. I don't know what was the first version when this was possible. If I remember correctly the effects of the enchantments didn't stack.
You may also be confused as to why the bow has protection enchantments when I enchanted it with power. That happened because in one of the 1.0.33 or 1.0.34 versions of Infdev+ there were some changes done to enchatments, which caused the power enchantment to change to protection on enchanted gear.
Item: Protection 5 crossbow
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.34?
Means of obtaining: Enchant a crossbow with power before that version
Note:
I can't remember the exact version this happens, so you may need to do some testing. This happened because in one of the 1.0.33 or 1.0.34 versions of Infdev+ there were some changes done to enchatments, which caused the power enchantment to change to protection on enchanted gear.
Item: Efficiency 5, Unbreaking 3 hoe
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.33
Means of obtaining: Stack enchantments on a hoe
Note:
Version 1.0.33 added the ability to stack the levels of enchantments on all enchantable items. This didn't last long as version 1.0.33_02, which came out the same day, reverted the change.
Item: Damaged lightning arrow
Version: Infdev+ 0.6
Means of obtaining: Obtain a bamboo bucket in a version before that, fill it with water and use it once or twice
Note:
Bamboo buckets were added in 0.3 when you couldn't stack iron buckets. They were unique in the fact that you could place three water sources after picking up only one. After placing down all the water sources the bucket would break. It was deemed unnecessary after bucket stacking was added and the empty bamboo bucket ID got take by topaz and the filled bamboo bucket ID got taken by lightning arrow.
Item: Negative stack of stone
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.40_05
Means of obtaining: Smelt 128 cobblestone without taking the stone out of the output slot.
Note:
Version 1.0.39 introduced cleaner code for containers but also introduced some bugs. One of those was the fact that a hellforge could continue smelting even after having a full stack of items was in the output slot, meaning you could overstack certain items.
Item: Zero stack of Angel wings
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.18
Means of obtaining: Break angel wings in this version
Note:
When you used angel wings until they broke in this version (and maybe some before this one) they would break and their stack size would become zero.
Item: Damaged emerald and sapphire gems
Version: Infdev+ 0.3
Means of obtaining: Mine the crystals associated with those gems
Note:
This didn't work with rubies. Most likely because their crystals had metadata of 0.
Item: Ember block with the ID of a mushroom block
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Means of obtaining: Obtain the ember block before it gets its own ID
Note:
For some reason the ember blocks had the same ID as the mushroom blocks, but that got changed. I don't remember which nightly build changed it.
Item: Yellow petal
Version: Infdev+ 0.6?, relevant until 1.0.39
Means of obtaining: Grow a flower before 0.6
Note:
This is now a yellow petal block which is no longer unobtainable, however it used to be a "special" flower stem block before 1.0.39. That's because originally flower stems had the same ID as flower petals. However later flower stems became a log type, which meant that the old stem blocks with the flower petal ID became unobtainable. The old stem blocks remained in the game until 1.0.39.
Item: Shroomlights with weird ID
Versions: Infdev+ 1.0 and Infdev+ 1.0.39
Means of obtaining: For the first one you need to obtain a mushroom stem before 1.0, for second one you need to place down any cap block before 1.0.39 and then mine it in 1.0.39 or later.
Note:
The first happened because mushroom stems used to have ID of 134 with metadata of 0, but version 1.0 made them a log, which meant that any mushroom stem obtained before 1.0 will display as shroomlights as their metadata wasn't taken by anything.
The second was obtained because versions before 1.0.39 had different leaf decay, which affected cap blocks as well. This meant that player placed caps had to have different metadata compared to naturally generated once. Version 1.0.39 however changed leaf decay and made it so that cap blocks don't decay, which means that the metadata for player placed cap blocks aren't used, so they display as shroomlights, which seems to be the default for this ID.
Item: Damaged ice ring
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.35_02
Means of obtaining: Damage a ring before this version.
Note:
Ice rings used to have durability of 1024 before this version, but were changed to be indestructible.
Item: Golden hoe with negative durability
Version: Infdev+ 0.1-dev
Means of obtaining: Use a golden hoe more than 512 times in this version
Note:
Golden hoes used to have 1024 durability in vanilla Infdev. This was fixed before the public release of 0.1.
Item: Saplings with weird metadata
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.41_10
Means of obtaining: Right-click an empty flower pot in this version while empty handed. Then place the saplings you get.
Note:
Right-clicking the flower pot gives you saplings with metadata of -128 and placing them down gives you saplings with metadata of 128.
Item: Seeds with weird metadata
Version: Infdev+ 0.3-dev
Means of obtaining: Breaking tall grass in this version gives you seeds with same metadata as the grass.
Note:
I believe that this was only in the dev builds, but can't remember right now. These were the only seeds I could get as there were no other seed/tall grass types back then.
Item: Damascus shield with negative durability
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.35_02
Means of obtaining: Damage a damascus shield before this version more than 256 times
Note:
Before this version damascus shield used to have 512 durability the ability of teleportation. This ability would teleport you whenever struck. This however proved to be annoying so the ability was changed to make it so it blocks damage from the front when you're crouching.
Item: Enchanted orange tulip
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.18_02
Means of obtaining: Pick-block something while holding an enchanted item
Note:
Another pick-block bug. I believe you could enchant any block this way.
Item: Stack of four adamantine shovels
Version: Infdev+ 1.0
Means of obtaining: Get obsidian rods in versions 0.6 or 0.6.1
Note:
Obsidian rod was an item found in the Crimson dimension. They were added because there were plans to add obsidian tools later on. This idea was however scrapped and the ID of obsidian rods was taken by Adamantine Shovel.
Item: Renamed bow without enchantments
Version: Infdev+ 0.4-dev, relevant until 1.0.21_10
Means of obtaining: Rename a bow in this version
Note:
In the dev builds of 0.4 you could rename an item without enchanting it. This was changed in the full release which meant that you needed to enchant an item to rename it, so this bow became unobtainable. It renamed unobtainable until version 1.0.21_10 where you could once again rename items witout enchanting them (You can rename any item).
Item: Full stack of rocks
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.17_08
Means of obtaining: Get a stack of rocks in this version or one before then
Note:
Rocks used to stack to 64 up to this version, but 1.0.18 changed it so they would stack to 16. That's because you can throw rocks at enemies, which meant that before the stack change you could easily spam rocks to defeat your enemies.
Item: Zero stack of dark matter
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.17_06
Means of obtaining: Use a magnet while breaking a chest that has more stuff that you have free slots, but the items inside have to stack in your inventory while having non-full stack for the item you want.
Note:
It's a bit of a complicated process, but you can use it to get a zero stack of other items that stack.
Item: Zero stack of herbalist pouches
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.16_03
Means of obtaining: Open a pouch with your off-hand until you get one in your main hand. Then ove one of the pouches into your inventory.
Note:
I can't remember the exact details of this. I don't think you can get a negative stack this way.
Items: Damaged quivers, one has arrows in a weird slot, other is also renamed
Version: Infdev+ 0.5 dev for quiver with the arrow, 1.0 for the renamed one
Means of obtaining: I don't remember how I got the quiver in the weird slot. I got the quivers damaged by using them before 1.0
Note:
When it comes to the quiver with the arrow in the weird slot, I probably got it by swapping a quiver with a backpack as that was buggy in that version.
The only special thing about the renamed quiver is the fact that it is damaged, because as of 1.0.21_10 you can rename any item. If I remember correctly I renamed the quiver while repairing it.
Item: Damaged command block
Version: Infdev+ 1.0
Means of obtaining: Leave a flint and steel (has different name in Infdev+) in a chest before 0.6 and load it in 1.0
Note:
Before this version blocks had only 256 item IDs reserved and item IDs started with ID 256. This amount of block IDs however proved to be insufficient as the amount of block IDs used became close to 256 during the development of 0.6. This was circumvented by moving the first item ID to 4096, this way blocks would now have 4096 IDs that could be used. This would however cause problems for pre-existing worlds, as the items would have invalid IDs, so a converter was added. But you could prevent an item from being converted to its correct ID in your world by not loading it until its ID gets taken by a block. I got a command block this way (which I could use in survival in dev builds of 1.0), but you could also get some other unobtainable blocks this way, like signs in block form.
Item: Stack of seven muskets
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Means of obtaining: Break a non-player grave in crimson (found in graveyards)
Note:
I don't remember which nightly fixed this. You don't need to do anything special to obtain this. The way this works is that when you break a grave you get random item(s) and during the nightly builds graves could drop the muskets in stacks.
Item: Damaged tiki torch
Version: Infdev+ 0.3-dev?
Means of obtaining: Pick-block the top of a tiki torch
Note:
Pick-block has caused a lot of bugs like these through development. I believe this bug was only present during the dev builds of 0.3, I don't think it made it to full release.
Item: Trapdoors with weird metadata
Version: Infdev+ 0.3-pre
Means of obtaining: Break top trapdoors
Note:
Top trapdoors were added in 0.3, but didn't drop with the correct metadata during development. Be careful when handling the as hovering over them will crash your game.
Item: Leaves with weird metadata
Version: Infdev+ 1.0
Means of obtaining: Place down leaves during 0.6(.1), pick them up using the Gauntlet of Uriel and drop them so they would become items.
Note:
This happens because player placed leaves have different metadata from naturally generating leaves. This was done to prevent player place leaves from decaying in builds. And in 0.6(.1) the metadata of placed leaves started with 16, however in 1.0 it was changed to start with 128 as more leaf types were added.
Item: Blocks with weird metadata
Version: Infdev+ 0.6(.1)
Means of obtaining: Place a block with the metadata that you want, surround the block with blocks whose ID you want to change and break the initial block using the Gauntlet of Uriel
Note:
The Gauntlet of Uriel has the ability to break a 3x3 group of blocks and back then the metadata of blocks dropped depended on the metadata of the block you broke. This meant that you could use this for transmutation of blocks.
Item: Logs and lumber with weird metadata
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Means of obtaining: Placed down logs of various types and rotations and break them once log metadata gets extended.
Note:
In old minecraft metadata determines the type and rotation of logs. For example back in 0.2 there was only oak, which took up metadata 0,1 and 2, where 1 and 2 were rotated oak logs and 0 waere vertical logs. Then in 0.3 it was changed it and oak logs took up metadata 0,16 and 32. Then during the development of 0.6 it was 0, 32 and 64. The las time the log metadata was extended was in 1.0(?) when the metadata that oak logs took up was changed to 0,64 and 128. The logs placed before the metadata was extended kept their metadata, even when mined.
Item: Damaged empty bottles
Version: Infdev+ 1.0-pre
Means of obtaining: Double jump with the cloud in a bottle item equipped, put it into your had and equip it.
Note:
Back during the development of 1.0 the item called Cloud in a Bottle was added. You could obtain it from chests in the Astral dimension or by crafting it using clouds and an empty bottle. You could equip it to jump in mid-air, or right-click with it in your hand to create a platform of cloud blocks below your feet and gave you an empty bottle. This platform ability however caused some bugs. The first being the fact that that the empty bottle retained the metadata of the Cloud in a Bottle, which could be damaged by using the mid-air jump ability. The second bug was that the cloud block platform would delete any blocks in the space it took up, so you could use it to delete bedrock (like I did to make a big slipgate).
Later on the Cloud in a Bottle was replaced with the Cloud Amulet item, which was indestructible and couldn't be used to make cloud platforms.
Items: Negative durability gear
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Means of obtaining: Use the gear during the nightly builds where it has more durability
Note:
There were some attempts to rebalance the game during some of the nightly builds of version 0.6. Those nightly builds increased the durability of all(?) gear. These changes were reverted before the full release of version 0.6.
I don't remember which nightly builds did this.
Item: Stack of shovels
Version: Infdev+ 1.0-dev
Means of obtaining: Get them using a command block
Note:
I've obtained command block using the method described in the note for command block. I then used the command blocks to give myself shovels as it was possible to use them in survival in the dev builds of 1.0.
Item: Stack of screwdrivers
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Means of obtaining: Craft a stack of steel in a nightly build of 0.6 that has it.
Note:
There were plans to add a steel tool tier during the development of 0.6, which, if I remember correctly, was planned to be a tool tier that would replace iron, hence the durability changes described in the note for gear. Steel would be made by combining iron and copper. Steel ingots were implemented, but the idea was eventually scrapped and the ID of the steel ingot was taken by screwdriver.
I don't remember which nightly build that was.
Item: Stack of brushes
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Means of obtaining:Craft brushes in a nightly build of 0.6 in which they stack
Note:
I don't remember which nightly builds did this.
Item: Shroomlight with weird metadata
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.39
Means of obtaining: Place down a shroomlight block before this version and pick it up in this version or later
Note:
This happened because there was leaf decay was different before 1.0.39 and it affected shroomlights as well. As such player placed shroomlights had different metadata compared to naturally generated ones. Version 1.0.39 then changed the leaf decay and made it so that shroomlights were no longer affected by it, which means that player placed shroomlights now have the same metadata as naturally generated ones.
Item: Damaged obsidian brick
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.39
Means of obtaining: Can be obtained using several methods, for example the transmutation tric described in the note for Blocks
Note:
Another method of obtaining is to crafted them in version 0.5.4 or some versions before that. That's because in those versions there were three varinats of obsidian bricks - regular, chiseled and gilded. You'd craft the chiseled, as the gilded were unobtainable in this versions. But you could use this trick to get the gilded ones in versions after 0.5.4 and before 1.0.39, as 0.6 removed the regular bricks and the metadata were moved, which meant the the metadata where regular obsidian bricks were was take by chiseled ones and the metadata for chiseled obsidian bricks was taken by gilded obsidian bricks.
Item: Damaged crimson vine
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.39
Means of obtaining: Obtain nylium roots before this version.
Note:
Crimson vines and nylium roots used to share the same ID, because both were called roots and both grew from the ground. Version 1.0.39 however changed it and made it so crimson vines grow from the bottom of blocks down, which meant that nylium roots had to get their own ID.
Item: Various weird blocks
Version: Infdev+ 1.0-pre
Means of obtaining: Use silk touch to break various blocks
Note:
I'm not sure which pre-releases it was possible in or if they were public ones. The list of blocks I acquired include blocks with weird metadata and blocks that are normally used in their item form, like doors or signs.
Item: Rocks in their block form
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.35_03
Means of obtaining: Break a rock on the ground with a paladin sword in this version
Note:
If I remember correctly this is possible in some versions before this. Normally you're supposed to get the rock item when you break the rock on the ground.
Item: Cauldron in block form
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.42_04
Means of obtaining: Mine a cauldron with a paladin pickaxe in this version.
Note:
This is also possible in some versions before this one. Normally you're supposed to get the cauldron in its item form when you mine it.
Item: Logs and Pickaxes used for transmutation
Version: Infdev+ 0.3-dev
Significance: Tools in off-hand could be used to transmute blocks into their different variants.
Note:
When you held an item in your off-hand and place a block down, then the metadata of the block would depend on the metadata of the item in your off-hand, instead of its own metadata. This meant that you could use it to for example turn oak logs into birch logs. I did this by using pickaxes with different damage levels.
Item: First golden apple
Version: Infdev+ 0.1?
Significance: It was the first golden apple I've obtained in this world.
Note:
I don't remember when exactly have I obtained, it might have been 0.1-dev, 0.1 or 0.1.1, but I'm pretty certain it was before 0.2.
Item: Stairs with high metadata obtained before you could craft them
Version: Infdev+ 0.2
Significance: While working on my base I managed to obtain stairs with weird metadata values before they were used for the stair variants.
Note:
I don't remember how I obtained them, I only remember that I was playing when suddenly I noticed that some of the stairs in my inventory didn't stack with others. I tried to get more but was unsuccessful.
Item: Willow log
Version: Infdev+ 0.6
Significance: Willow log obtained before I the Astral dimension was added.
Note:
If I remember correctly his happened because the log metadata was extended in 0.6, so some of the rotated oak logs turned into willow logs in 1.0. During 0.6 these logs used the Missing Texture texture. The log metadata extension was described in more detail in the Logs and Lumber section.
Item: Astrall tall grass
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Significance: Tall grass from the Astral dimension obtained before the Astral was added.
Note:
Obtained by fertilising nylium grass blocks. If I remember correctly it was called Holy grass back then.
Item: Knowledge book
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Significance: You obtained books of lore (now knowledge book) volume 1 ( or 2) everytime you left (or entered) the crimson dimension.
Note:
There were plans to have different volumes of the book of lore to see information about items from different dimension based on the volume. Those volumes were supposed to be obtained from dungeons, but during some nightly builds of 0.6 you obtained books everytime you entered or left the crimson. You got volume 2 when you entered and volume 1 when you left. More infor in the section about Adamantine pickaxe.
Item: Painting dupe
Version: Infdev+ 0.2-dev
Significance: During the dev builds there was a way to dupe paintings and item frames.
Note:
The way it worked was that everytime you respawned at your bed, paintings (and item frames) placed on the walls would drop themselves while remaining on the walls. So by dying repeatedly you could obtain a lot of paintings (or item frames). I got several stacks of paintings this way and haven't used them up yet.
Item: White flag
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Significance: White flag replaced the gloshroom stew item.
Note:
I can't remember why the gloshroom stew was removed, or why and when it was added in the firs place. I suspect that it was removed because of the potions, since you could make a night vision potion, which had the same effect as the glowshroom stew, but lasted longer.
Item: Crimson vines
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Significance: Mushroom stems used to have their own ID, but in 0.6 they were given the same ID as mushroom caps and their ID was taken by crimson vines.
Note:
Originally the crimson vines were called crimson roots as they grew from the ground. Mushroom stems later became a log variant, so now they have the same ID as oak logs for example.
Item: Topaz
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Significance: Topaz that was obtained before you could access the Astral dimension.
Note:
Normally topaz is exclusive to the Astral, but I've managed to obtain it before Astral was added. That's because they replaced the bamboo buckets after wey were removed. More info in the section about Lightning arrows.
Item: Adamantine Pickaxe
Version: Infdev+ 1.0
Significance: I've managed to obtain a lot of adamantine pickaxes without crafting them with very little effort.
Note:
I've managed to do this because during some of the nightly builds of 0.6 you were given the Book of Lore volume 2 every time you entered the Crimson dimension. Those were later removed (more info about the removel in the other section about Adamantine pickaxe) and replaced with adamantine pickaxes. Back then I didn't know this would happen, I just wanted to get a lot of thos books, which turned out to be a good idea as I got a lot of Adamantine pickaxes thanks to this.
Item: Adamantine shovel
Version: Infdev+ 1.0
Significance: Adamantine shovel that used to be an obsidian rod
Note:
More information in the other section about Adamantine shovels.
Item: Ruby crystal
Version: Infdev+ 1.0-nightly
Significance: Topaz crystals dropped ruby crystals instead of topaz gems
Note:
If I remember correctly this happened no matter how you broke them, even indirectly. I believe this only happened during the privately released nightly builds, not in any of the public versions.
Item: Map of a castle
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.13
Significance: Map of a castle I've built off-camera
Note:
During 1.0.13 I've decided to build a castle out of dark materials like basalt to experiment with gradients. I don't thin I've ever shown it on camera. The case is located on the surface and can be found at the coordiantes X:-130 Z:852. The map is here to remind me of that.
Item: Mob spawner
Version: Infdev+ 0.1-dev
Significance: Mob spawner that I've picked up
Note:
Back in the dev builds of 0.1 you could pick up spawners simply by mining the, as this was something possible in vanilla. This was of course fixed for the full relase. I managed to get one of these back then and later duped them. I used them to make some pig farms. These are now useless baceuse the changes to spawners made in the past make it so that when you place a spawner down it doesn't have a set mob. You can only set the mob by using spawn eggs on them. These also used to be unobtainable for quite a while, but now can be obtained using a paladin pickaxe, meaning you can use the for decorative purposes (but not for farming thanks to the aforementioned changes).
Item: Generator
Version: Infdev+ 0.2
Significance: There was a weird bug with generators during 0.2.
Note:
I'll try to add more info latee.
Item: Trident
Version: Infdev+ 1.0-RC2
Significance: There was a trident dupe during this time
Note:
You could dupe a triden by trowing it and quickly switching to another slot. You could do the same with a musket. I managed to get a lot of tridents and muskets this way.
Item: Paper with a note
Version: Infdev+
Significance: Paper renamed to the percentage chance of duping blocks with an adamantine pickaxe.
Note:
If I remember correctly sometime during the development of 1.0 you could use adamantine pickaxe to dupe any block which had pickaxe set as its preffered tool. I used it to dupe variouse precious blocks and while doing so calculated that the probability of duping a block was roughly 9.375% (the probability might've changed since then).
Item: Cave map
Version: Infinite 1.0-RC2
Significance: First cave map I've crafted
Note:
During episode 43 of my series I've crafted a cave map to show it off (it was added in Infdev+ 1.0.41_03, so I was a bit late). The map show a scetion of the world near the area reached by the yellow teleporter that's in my base. I decided to keep the map as a memento.
Item: Book with list of mobs
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.40
Significance: List of newly added mob variants
Note:
In episode 40 I decided to show the new mob variants that were added in prior versions. I did this by writing down their list in a book and then used video editing to add their pictures into the book in the video. I originally intended to throw the book away, but in the end I decided to keep it as memento.
Item: Four sided generators
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Means of obtaining: Keep a generator powered until it turns into this.
Note:
It's been a while since this bug happened and I didn't write down how it works, but I believe this is how it happens. I remember noticing it in my pumpkin farm, which I built during the development of 0.6 iirc.
Item: Headless golden piston
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.14
Means of obtaining: Push a sponge using a piston
Note: Indev+ also had the same bug, where it was fixed by making it so sponges can't be pushed by pistons. But in Infinite you can push sponges.
Item: Stacked flags
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Means of obtaining: To set things up you need to place a wall on a block, then place a fence on the wall. Then you just place three flags, first on the fence, second on the wall and third on the block.
Note:
This happened because flags are two blocks tall and when you placed them the top block would delete any block that would be in the way of the flag.
Item: Adamantine pickaxes in a bookhself
Version: Infdev+ 1.0
Means of obtaining: Place a book of lore volume 2 into a bookshelf in version 0.6(.1)
Note:
Back during 0.5 an item called the Book of Lore volume 1 was added into the game. The plan for it was that you would find it in dungeons and it would should you the recipes and descriptions of any overworld items you put into it. The word overworld is important as it wouldn't display the recipes for items found in the Crimson dimension or the Astral dimension. Instead you would find Book of Lore volume 2 in the Crimson dungeons and Book of Lore volume 3 in the Astral dimension. This was later changed and instead we got the Knowledge Book button in inventory, which we can use to see recipes and descriptions of items. The Book of Lore volume 1 item is still in game under the name Knowledge book, but the Book of Lore volume 2 was replaced with Adamantine Pickaxe and Book of Lore volume 3 was replaced with Adamantine axe if I remember correctly (but I wasn't able to obtain volume 3 in survival as it didn't generate in chests before being removed).
Item: Bow in a bookshelf
Version: Infdev+ 1.0.21_06
Means of obtaining: Use number hotkeys to put a bow into a bookshelf in this version(put a bow into a hotbar slot, hover over a booksehlf slot and press then number corresponding to the slot where your bow is)
Note:
Using this you can put any items into a bookshelf, despite it only accepting books. You can also put items into the wrong spots of other containers.
Item: Floating break tracks
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Means of obtaining: Place down burn out torches on walls during the nightly builds.
Note:
This happened because burnt out torches were planned for 0.6 along with a burn out mechanic for torches. This was eventually scrapped and the ID for burnt out torches was taken by break tracks.
Item: Crimson plants in illegal position
Version: Infdev+ 0.6-nightly
Means of obtaining: Place two (or more) plants on a block that supports them and the break the block.
Note:
I believe this is possible because back then the crimson plants could be supported from both top and the bottom. This meant they didn't break in this configuration because the top block though it's supported from the bottom and the bottom block though it's supported from the top.
